White lupine, field lupin seeds (Lupinus albus)
In most of the Mediterranean lupine seeds are consumed as a snack, pickled in salt (thereby reducing the somewhat bitter taste), along with a beer or wine. In is garden it is an annual plant with beautiful flowers. Lupine like other varieties of Lupinus enriches the soil with nitrogen due to the bacteria it hosts in its roots and therefore is considered as an organic fertilizer.
