Summer savory originally comes from the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean.

In cooking, summer savory is especially used in cooked vegetables, stews and meat stews. However fresh it can be used in salads. It has a slightly spicy flavor reminding one of the flavor of black pepper.

As a medicinal herb it is effective against flatulence, digestion problems and is an appetite stimulant.

Savory is an annual plant that grows best in located full sun.
