Common Nettle, stinging nettle seeds (Urtica dioica)

The nettle is not welcome in most gardens, but it is a very versatile and useful medicinal plant and so we decided to include it in our catalog. It is very interesting for organic gardening as it is a natural soil fertilizer and an infusion can protect the leaves of other plants from pests. As the Urtica dioica herb is used for rheumatism and added to our shampoo it is very beneficial for its ability to improve blood circulation.

Additionally you can use the leaves as a vegetable, and cooking can be used like spinach, and the sprouts are delicious. In Italy there is an interesting recipe for cooking, the "Risotto all Ortiche" a good alternative to classical nettle soup. the Nettle fibers can be used to make ropes and even other types of textiles. Its roots can be used to dye fabrics too.

And last but not least, the nettle is an essential plant to the ecosystem because it is the staple food for more than 50 different varieties of butterflies. From now on, all these good reasons might help us see the nettle with different eyes.
