Like many herbs and medicinal plants, borage is native to the Mediterranean region, it is an annual plant with fuzzy leaves. The beautiful white flowers appear from spring to autumn and are a popular plant for bees and beekeepers.

Uses:

In the kitchen: Borage contains some alkaloids that can be harmful to the liver for this reason it should not be consumed regularly but from time to time it is a treat considered safe. The beautiful flowers are good in salads, candied and in ice cubes. The flowers are almost free of the harmful liver alkaloids

In the home: the flower pigment works like litmus paper in acidic solutions it stains red

Medicine: Borage has, fever reducer, expectorant, cardiovascular tonic and soothing anti-inflammatory properties. Internally it is used for fever, rheumatism, menstrual cramps and hormonal changes. Because of its potentially damaging effects on the liver refrain from its continual use. Externally it can be used in eczema, blisters and rashes.
