New Zealand Spinach seeds (Tetragonia tetragonioides)

Maori name: kōkihi

This succulents plant tolerant to saline environments is native to the coasts of New Zealand and is cooked by the Maori as a plant with roots (the young leaves can be used fresh too). Generally, the leaves are prepared like spinach and there is no need to add salt if it grows in salty places. Captain Cook observed consumption of this variety by the Maori in New Zealand and ordered his sailors to preserve them using vinegar to prevent scurvy.

It is also an ornamental and this variety can be used as a parterre.
