Cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum)
Cardamom comes from southern India and Sri Lanka, where the shrub reaches a height of 1.80 m. Its fruits and seeds are a very popular spice in India and in many Arab countries. In European cuisine cardamom is mainly present in Christmas cookies. Although less well known its leaves are also used as a spice and as part of many herbal teas in Indian cuisine.
Elettaria cardamomum likes semi dark, moist, warm places, because with temperatures below 10 ° C the plant suffers.
