Mushroom Plant (Rungia klossii)

Rungia Klossii originally comes from the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. There this plant is cultivated as an edibe plant, which with its distinct mushroom aroma, is rich in vitamins and proteins.
The Mushroom plant can be harvested all year round, the best is to harvest the peaks to provide a bushy growth.

In the kitchen it's used in salads, soups and wok dishes, a small cooking even increases the mushroom aroma.

Low frosts are tolerated but lead to a leaf loss. Planted in the garden, a clear cut back is advantageous for cultivation.
