Field Sorrel seeds (Rumex acetosella)

Field Sorrel is widespread throughout Europe. Its leaves can be used in salad (they are acidic) or cocktails (drinks). It is also a medicinal plant used against inflammations, tumors, intestinal worms and fever.

Its use in small amounts is considered safe but because of its oxalate content (which is what gives leaves that sour taste) it should not be used in large quantities or by people with rheumatism or kidney problems.

This undemanding plant prefers acidic, sandy soil.
