False Acacia Plant (Robinia pseudoacacia)
False Acacia is native to North America, but became popular in Europe some 300 years ago. Robinia is an undemanding deciduous tree , which makes it suitable for difficult locations .
In Germany, the white Acacia is found in dry places, railway embankments and places that have been environmentally degraded so it can be used as a pioneer plant to reforest areas.
Due to the high content of nectar from their flowers, black locust is an excellent plant for bees (it blooms in early summer ). Honey produced by bees using pollen from these acacias is very popular.
Except for the flowers all other parts of the plant are poisonous.
Use as a medicinal plant :
Dried flowers are an excellent infusion , used for coughs, bronchitis and asthma, it is also credited a palliative effect on gastritis.
