Elephant Ear, Marquesa Plant (Alocasia macrorrhizos) Middle sized

This beautiful plant of the Araceae family originally comes from tropical Asia. The macrorrhizos Alocasia has the largest leaves of the plant kingdom. Can you imagine taking shelter from monsoon rain under the giant leaves of an alocasia? The plant is used in their places of origin as a food source, its rhizome rich flour is boiled like potatoes. The raw plant however is inedible.
