Garden Balsam, Touch-me –not seeds (Impatiens Balsamina)
Balsamina is native to Southeast Asia. There it is used as a medicinal plant for rheumatism, diabetes, warts and skin problems, and taken in an infusion to help constipation. The leaves and stems can be eaten boiled and the fresh flowers are excellent in salads. Infusions can also be prepared with the seeds. These plants are annuals and prefer semi-shade and are more resistant to over-watering than excessive drying.
