Purple Loosestrife seeds (Lythrum salicaria)
Loosestrife can be found in damp places, rivers and lakes. With their showy flowers they are ideal for edging a pond in the garden. Apart from its great need for water it is a plant that requires very little care. Its purple flowers (produces approx. about 100 flowers) are very attractive for its nectar for many types of butterflies. In natural medicine it is used for eczema, bleeding and inflammation of the skin. They have also conducted animal studies that showed the reduction of blood glucose but this is unproven in humans.
