Greek Oregano seeds (Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum)
Greek oregano is a variety of common oregano. Greek oregano is the best for use in cooking, the proportion of essential oils that are special to the flavor, is significantly higher than in other subspecies of oregano.
Origanum vulgare has pink flowers and Origanum vulgare subsp. Hirtum has white flowers. The stems and leaves are also more hairy if planted in a dry, warm place. Pollination of flowers (flowering season: June - September) is done by bees and butterflies.
Although this subspecies of oregano essentially prefers a hot, dry climate it is also probably the most winter hardy of all subspecies of oregano.
Medicine: Mixed with other varieties of herbs it is indicated against stomach pain and intestinal problems. It is also an appetite stimulant, improves bile function and is an expectorant.
