WINTER TIPS FOR THE DIFFERENT RHIZOMES

Canna rhizomes:

In areas where the temperatures can drop to below -3, rhizomes must be dug up and stored in a basement or garage at a temperature of 6-10ºC. During this period they should not be watered but you must ensure that they do not dry out (spray with a little water from time to time) and monitor for mould.

Jerusalem Artichoke rhizome:

It is generally not necessary to dig up Jerusalem artichokes. In pretty cold climate the areas can be covered with leaves or mulch. The Jerusalem artichoke rhizomes dry out very quickly, so they should be planted as soon as they are received.

Curcuma, Curcuma longa and Yellow Ginger:

Taro rhizome, edo (Colocasia esculenta):
