Typical of the Mostera species are slit leaves. Monstera deliciosa is an evergreen climbing plant that can reach a few meters of heigth with a suitable climbing aid. The fruits of Monstera deliciosa are edible and are offered for example in Madeira on the markets, the taste of the fruits can be classified between pineapple and banana.
Originally the Monstera species originated in the tropical regions of Central America and often grow on the tree trunks of the forest trees. As a houseplant, Monstera is well suited as it has a low light requirement compared to many others.
When the air roots reach a pond or aquarium water, they releease the nitrates and nitrites and can therefore be used as an improvement of the water.
