This kind of scented Geraniums have small but highly aromatic leaves that spread a strong camphor flavor. This special aroma is known from all of us from the cream, which was rubbed on the chest with colds as children. Also this unique flavor is used in mothballs and known its deferrent effect on those insects (mosquitoes also). As the plants are easy to cultivate in pots, we have here a highly effective and "mobile" anti-insect product which can be placed without hesitation on the dining room table in the evenings. The plants need some full sunlight hours though in order to develop their full aroma.
Camphor appears naturally in only a few species, the best known natural supplier for camphor is the camphor tree (Cinnamomum camphora).
