Pennyroyal is another important medicinal plant that is also a powerful mosquito repellant. However, in Germany internal use it is vetoed because of the high content of a toxic substance called Pulegon.

Especially children and pregnant women should abstain from drinking this tea (it provoke abortions), or only use it for external purposes such as mosquito.

The plant is also good for bees. Its flowering period is from June to September. The pennyroyal prefers moist sandy soils and can grow well in pots.
