Soapberry, Soapnut (Sapindus Saponaria)


Sapindus Saponaria comes from Central and South America. The trees usually reach a height of 3-5 meters with a bushy growth shape. The yellow fruits become translucent and wrinkled when they are ripe. The fruits are rich in saponins, after the seed is removed, the bowls can be used very well as a detergent.

Simply place the halved bowls in a fabric bag with the laundry. Depending on the degree of contamination and water hardness between 4 -8 shell halves are required.

All-purpose cleaners and shampoo can also be produced from the broth of the washing nuts.
