Echinacea, Purple coneflower seeds (Echinacea purpurea)

Echinacea, also called hedgehog for its petals around the central cone like a hedgehog (gr echinos - erizo) is native to North America and was used by indigenous Americans as a medicinal plant for coughs, sore throats and mouth and pharynx infections. More recent studies have shown its reinforcing effect of the immune system. Echinacea extract also contains many other medicinal properties. Multiplication: by seeds in normal growth substrate, germination takes place after 2-3 weeks approx. 15 to 20 degrees with light. Variations in temperature decrease the ability to germinate. The plant can also be multiplied by division and root cuttings.

In winter: Best in the ground. If it is in a pot away from sources of heat

Uses:

Medicinal: for cough, sore throat and mouth and throat infections. Reinforces the immune system. It acts favorably in urinary tract infections. Topically against dermatitis. You can use the leaves and roots. Echinacea should not be used for long periods of time or in pregnancy.
