Bulbs & Rhizomes

Bulbs & Rhizomes

In the months of November to March we send rhizomes and bulbs to all of the Iberian Peninsula (including the islands). Shipments outside Spain and Portugal are unfortunately not yet possible.

WINTER TIPS FOR THE DIFFERENT RHIZOMES

IMPORTANT: Upon receipt of the rhizomes remove them immediately from the plastic bag as this packaging is only for postage.

Canna rhizomes:

In areas where the temperatures can drop to below -3, rhizomes must be dug up and stored in a basement or garage at a temperature of 6-10ºC. The substrate in which we save them can be perlite, coconut fiber or sand. During this period they should not be watered but you must ensure that they do not dry out (spray with a little water from time to time) and monitor for mould.

Jerusalem Artichoke rhizome:

It is generally not necessary to dig up Jerusalem artichokes. In pretty cold climate the areas can be covered with leaves or mulch. The Jerusalem artichoke rhizomes dry out very quickly, so they should be planted as soon as they are received.
