Chinese Licorice "Gan Cao" Seeds (Glycyrrhiza uralensis)

Chinese licorice is one of the 50 most important medicinal plants in traditional Chinese medicine.

In China it is used against coughs, fever, in cancer therapy and against bacterial or fungal diseases.

Glyzirrhyna is approx. 50 times sweeter than sugar and pieces of root can be used to sweeten tea or coffee. The taste is reminiscent of anise or fennel.

It reaches a height of approx. 1m in the garden, it flowers from June to September and produces purple and white flowers.

Warning: Licorice should not be taken if you have high blood pressure.
